The Integrated Social Development Centre (ISODEC) has undertaken a comprehensive Organisational Mapping Tool (OMT) exercise aimed at strengthening its institutional capacity and enhancing internal collaboration.
The two-day workshop, held in Sogakope in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region, brought together staff from both southern and northern Ghana. The exercise formed part of ISODEC’s ongoing efforts to reflect on its operational strengths while identifying key areas for improvement.
The workshop was supported by the Ford Foundation through its BUILD Project.
In his welcome address, the Executive Director of ISODEC, Mr. Sam Danse, stated that the workshop was designed to create an enabling environment for the organisation to thrive.
Mr Danse that the process would also provide an opportunity for staff to engage in meaningful discussions about their work and organisational experiences, with the goal of building collective strength and effectiveness.
He further explained that the OMT process focuses on assessment, prioritisation, and planning, enabling the organisation to chart a clear path development.
Davine Thawm a consultant who facilitated the workshop highlighted that the Organisational Mapping Tool is specifically designed to support organisations in evaluating their overall performance.
According to her, the tool encourages organisation-wide dialogue, particularly helping staff identify what works well and what requires improvement.
Se said, It also supports the collective identification of priority areas and the development of actionable steps to address them.
The consultant added that the OMT is adaptable and suitable for organisations of varying sizes and capacities, making it a valuable instrument for institutional development.
The workshop was expected to enhance ISODEC’s effectiveness and reinforce its commitment to sustainable organisational growth.
Participants demonstrated strong commitment throughout the training, actively engaging in all activities. They also requested that ISODEC’s management and Board continue providing such training opportunities to further enhance staff capacities.
